RAISING A TOAST

There’s 24K excitement in the air!

Yup. Us gurlz have Simi’s surprise birthday bash all figured out, kinda. Jas has smooth talked her way past the 24K Opula society secretary, crusty sixty five year old retired businessman Mr Thadhani’s objections of a pool party by naughtily suggesting that it would be a bikini bash… ‘That did it for the poor Thadani. He’s extended the Opula infinity pool timings for us assuring me like hazaar times that he will personally drop by to make sure everything is ok!’ Jas bursts out laughing as we flop down on the lush green well maintained lawns for our post cardio workout protein shake. ‘We’ll just have to make sure he downs a lot of Sangria to make sure he stays happy enough for us to get away with a lot more.’ Adds Natasha giggling, almost choking on her shake. ‘Mrs Thadani ain’t going to like you anymore Jas!’ ‘Arrey she’s gone to Delhi, why do you think he’s so chilled!’ winks Jas. We all burst out laughing loudly in unison, startling the senior citizen couple walking past us on the well-designed jogging track while a young mother anxiously herding her young toddler to the designated school drop off area frowns disapprovingly sending us into another wild spate of laughter.

It’s absolutely amazing how easily I’ve settled down at 24K Opula.

Everything from finding my dream home to settling down in a new city has surprisingly been smooth sailing. Their unique 24K Concierge service especially for someone new to the city has come to my aid numerous times from simple yet critical issues like getting a plumber to set up my dishwasher, finding the perfect internet provider or giving in to an indulgent moment of craving sushi and sake close to midnight after a day of frenetic designing. ‘Come on guys I’m hungry, let’s get some breakfast, who’s in the mood for some South Indian? I’m driving.’ The girls jump up and within minutes we are in my Jag, out of Aundh Annexe onto Baner road fiercely rooting for our favourite haunt with Jas deciding that fine tuning Simi’s surprise birthday bash, making it an absolutely fun filled 24K morning to remember. Back home, I kick off my sneakers and walk bare foot to the shower, my feet savour the cool satin smoothness of the luxurious Italian Porcelonosa flooring, a welcome respite from the rising May temperatures that will hold the Deccan plateau hostage for an entire month till the monsoons bring relief. ‘It’s Ok madam, aam panna piyo, ratnagiri hapus khao aur 24K Opula pe araam karo.’ My cheeky but super-efficient cook Savita advised me when she heard me complain to parents the other day about how travelling about the city was turning into a dreadfully sweaty affair. ‘This is so not like you Czarina. You always head to Europe in the summer.’ Said Mom, ‘What’s happened? Have you met someone special at 24K Opula?’ ‘Oh no! There’s no one!’ I quickly clarified least parents decide to descend to sweet talk me into meeting yet another suitable boy. ‘Anyways Mom you know I would have told you if there was someone special’

But Mom’s words set me thinking.

It’s true I’ve always jumped at the idea of getting away from the fiery Indian summer ever since I’ve been knee high. But now strangely I find myself a bit reluctant to leave my nest. There’s finally a sense of belonging in my life, of having found the perfect sanctuary where comfort and luxury are perfectly balanced. For everything I need to escape from the world and return whenever I desire is right here. All that remains is that special someone. Making 24K Opula absolutely perfect. the moment calls for nothing less than breakfast at Vaishali, Pune’s famous iconic south Indian restaurant on Fergusson College Road when my cellphone rings. It’s my childhood bestsie Bianca calling from New York. She must have just finished off from Levis & Kramer Law Firm in Manhattan catching the 11pm subway home to her quaint brownstone in the Upper East Side. ‘Hey Czi how are you? Looks like you’ve finally settled down!’ she teases me knowing how restless I’ve always been, till now. ‘Well guess what? I’m going to be in Pune next week, work related of course but am dying to check out your new pad, the supposedly fabulous 24K Opula deal that finally got my picky Czarina’s approval!’

I’m super stoked at this news and eager to show off my new home.

Bianca’s one of the most sought after corporate litigation lawyers in the Big Apple, she’s made it mega huge in a short time with her razor sharp memory for the minutest details lurking deep within in any legal brief earning her the nickname of Queen Cobra. ‘Hey Queenie! Can’t wait to see you too, it’s been such a long time!’ I grin from ear to ear, ‘And yes, there’s a bunch of my 24K Opula pals who can’t wait to meet you too. Hold on a sec!’ I quickly put her on video chat pulling Jas and Nats into the frame. ‘Lovely to meet you girls. Sorry I’m a zombie right now, just knee deep in a crazy conglomerate buyout.’ Bianca waves back, looking so poised and elegant even late at night. ‘Hey! Looking forward to meeting you too. And don’t worry Czi’s really settled down at 24K Opula. In fact she’s so settled that we’re planning to drag her out tonight, no more wining, dining and snoozing on your sundeck Czi.’ Jas playfully punches me. We laugh and wave our good byes turning our attention to the scrumptious wafer thin masala dosas that go just perfectly with piping hot filter coffee whilst.
